Works underway at St George’s Way, Newport, Isle of Wight

After nearly a decade in the making, it's exciting that construction of the long-awaited retail park at St George’s Way, Newport, Isle of Wight commenced in December 2025 on the the site of the former Newport IW FC football ground.

This scheme has been pre-let to Aldi UK, B&M Retail, Superdrug and Wren Kitchens, alongside two drive-thru units for Costa Coffee and McDonald's.

The journey to this point has not been straightforward. The original planning application was submitted back in 2018 and has been followed by a prolonged period of uncertainty, including a judicial review which was ultimately dismissed by the High Court. 

This development also delivers Newport IOW Football Club with a new ground, which is currently under construction at Whippingham. This new retail park is therefore significant for the island’s economy but also, as importantly, for the community.
